Our Ministry Team

Spence Ian_picmonkeyedSenior Pastor – Ian Spence

Graceville is a church in transition: through Ian’s leadership the buildings have been renovated, extra classrooms added and a new Assistant Pastor brought on board. It would be wonderful if we could employ a Youth Pastor!

Ian is a visionary and believes that GPC has tremendous opportunities to touch the lives of many people in this community. To achieve this we must learn the art of speaking the Gospel in ways that people can understand. He is a big picture man leaving the details to others to attend to, which does make for an interesting ride.

The church does not employ a handyman… we leave that up to Ian!

Assistant Pastor – Rohan Pieris

Pieris Rohan_picmonkeyed

Rohan is passionate about pastoral ministry because he gets the amazing privilege of helping people come to know Jesus and connect what they believe about Him with the details of their lives. He first trusted in Jesus at a young age, but it was at university where Rohan really came to grasp the freedom that comes from having a secure identity in Christ, and was challenged to live wholeheartedly for Him.

Rohan is married to Heather and they have a young daughter, Jasmine and a baby, Matilda. He worked as a corporate lawyer for a few years, before heading to Sydney Missionary & Bible College in 2011, where he completed a Master of Divinity in preparation for ministry.

Having previously spent all their lives in Sydney, the Pieris’ made the move to Brisbane in January 2015. They love the warmer weather this side of the Tweed, but we’re yet to convince them to cheer for Queensland in the Origin! In his spare time, you’ll find Rohan running and cycling around the streets of Graceville, watching cricket or West Wing, or sampling local culinary delights with Heather.

Student Pastor (Youth) – Mitch Spence
Mitch was born in Zimbabwe, studied in New Zealand and worked in London before taking a ministry position in Johannesburg. Married to Jessie and father to Harriet, they’re all living on Australian soil for the first time whilst he studies at Queensland Theological College.
He can find his way around a braai (superior to the BBQ), and for him a holiday has to include sun, sand and sea. He feels a calling to evangelise coffee baristas, owns an All Blacks jersey, and spends most of his time with the young adults and the youth at GPC. He longs for the Lord Jesus to return soon and hopes to use his life as best he can for God’s glory.
